We would like help working on our dog’s greeting/meeting of other dogs and people. He is super excited when we come home to him or someone else comes to the door. What do you recommend?

We'd recommend working on basic obedience so that you can ask for an alternative behavior (sit, down, place - all possible options) at the time of the excitable greeting until the initial excitement has passed and the dog has resumed a "calm" demeanor and can be released from command. To create reliability of obedience in those very tempting and exciting moments will require that you begin in a place with little to no distractions and build upon distraction level through the proofing phase of training.

Going from 100% excitement to a calm state quickly also takes training often referred to as calm training, we'd recommend that as well. Through repetition and extended periods of calm training, the dog learns to calm quicker, which aids in far less frustration when greeting guests as the excited moment passes much sooner.
