Major Dog Events You Can't Miss in 2026
If you're a dog owner in Central Pennsylvania, you already know our area is incredibly dog-friendly. From the trails along the Susquehanna to the parks scattered throughout Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg, there's always something happening for our four-legged friends. I've put together this comprehensive calendar of dog events happening right here in the Harrisburg area in 2026, so you and your pup never miss out on the fun.
Blue and Gray Cluster Dog Shows - April 8-12, 2026
The most prestigious dog event of the year happens right at the PA Farm Show Complex on Cameron Street. These five-day cluster shows run from April 8-12, with different kennel clubs hosting each day. Nearly 7,000 dogs from more than 100 different breeds compete for "best in show" throughout the five-day event.
Admission is just $5 (kids get in free), parking is free, and the shows run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. You'll see all different breeds, all different kinds, makes, shapes, big ones, little ones, and can talk to breeders, owners, and handlers about these different breeds.
The schedule breaks down like this:
- Wednesday & Saturday (4/8 & 4/11): Harrisburg Kennel Club
- Thursday & Friday (4/9 & 4/10): Lebanon County Kennel Club
- Sunday (4/12): Mason & Dixon Kennel Club
The event also features different dog supply vendors, making it perfect for stocking up on supplies while watching some incredible dogs compete.
WoofStock at Riverfront Park - September 2026
The Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance hosts their annual WoofStock along beautiful Riverfront Park in Harrisburg. WoofStock is the largest adoption event for dogs on the East Coast. The annual Woofstock celebration is one of the largest events for dogs and their humans on the east coast.
It draws a crowd of more than 10,000 animal lovers and their pets and serves as an important fundraiser for CPAA's programs. Proceeds help fund foster care operations and CPAA's Hounds of Prison Education training program for rescued dogs at the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill.
The day is filled with food, music, contests, and more. It also serves as a learning tool for pet owners about the importance of adopting, fostering, and spaying or neutering your animals. There will be lots of pet-themed vendors and rescues present plus live music, great food, raffle prizes, WoofStock t-shirts, and low-cost vaccine & microchipping clinic!
Best of all, admission is FREE, and the event happens rain or shine. It's typically held in late September, so mark your calendars!
Dog Park Meetups and Regular Events
Harrisburg City Dog Park Meetups
There's an active Meetup group for Harrisburg City's largest and only Dog Park located on the Greenlin Pet Resorts (Harrisburg) property at 147 N Cameron Street. Whether you have a teacup pup or a giant breed, all dogs are welcome to join for playdates, meetups, and special events.
This is a great way to socialize your dog regularly and meet other local dog owners. The meetups provide a safe, controlled environment where dogs can play off-leash while their humans connect over shared experiences.
Dog-Friendly Trails and Walking Groups
Many Harrisburg dog hiking trails welcome doggy birthday parties, training workshops, breed meetups, or group playdates. Popular spots for organized dog walks include:
- Riverfront Park downtown along the Susquehanna River, which regularly hosts dog-friendly events like WoofStock, as well as family-friendly concerts
- Wildwood Park with its seven trails across 229 acres, many of which loop around the gorgeous lake
- Boyd Big Tree Preserve with nearly 950 acres of forest and wildlife preserve, including old-growth trees and over 11 miles of trails
The entire Greenbelt trail system loops around the downtown area, including a particularly scenic leg called Asylum Run, which winds alongside a creek bed up to the historic former Harrisburg State Hospital grounds.

Great American Outdoor Show DockDogs Competition - February 2026
The Great American Outdoor Show features an exciting and furry-friendly DockDogs competition at the PA Farm Show Complex. This exciting competition runs multiple days in February and asks "Think your dog has what it takes?"
DockDogs is a fantastic sport where dogs leap off a dock into a pool, competing for distance. It's thrilling to watch and even more fun to participate in if your dog loves the water.
Fast CAT Events - May 2026
The Harrisburg Kennel Club hosts AKC Fast CAT events on May 16-17, 2026 at the beautiful Oakside Community Park at 2880 Table Rock Road, Biglerville. Harrisburg KC partners with Lebanon County KC & Chambersburg Area KC for FIVE days of Fast CAT - 2 events each day May 13-17, 2026.
Fast CAT (Coursing Ability Test) is where dogs chase a lure in a straight line, and their speed is recorded. Dogs of all sizes and breeds can participate, making it an inclusive and exciting event.
Petapalooza Pet Adoption Festival
While the specific 2026 date hasn't been announced, Petapalooza was traditionally held as a super adoption festival, though 2025 was announced as the last year for the festival, with organizers planning to continue focusing their effort on enhancing people's lives with their animal companions.
Petapalooza traditionally celebrated all things fuzzy and friendly, featuring adoptable pets across a broad range of animal rescue organizations in Central PA, encompassing not just dogs and cats but also rabbits, birds, chinchillas, reptiles, rats, and more.
Training and Educational Events
Throughout the year, various organizations offer specialized training workshops and educational seminars. Local groups host Conformation Shows, Obedience/Rally Trials, Agility Trials, Scent Work Trials, Fast CAT Trials, and Herding Workshops.

Ever Grain Brewing Co. - Camp Hill
Ever Grain Brewing Co. is dog-friendly, with a large area set aside for events, as well as a permanent outdoor patio and green space. It's the perfect place for you and your pooch to enjoy a big event — or just a lazy afternoon — while enjoying cornhole, companionship, and occasional live concerts.
They typically host seasonal events, including their popular End of Summer Art Jam, which welcomes well-behaved dogs.
Getting Your Dog Ready for Events
Before attending any of these events, make sure your dog is properly socialized and comfortable in crowds. Most dogs enjoy the spectacle and the special attention lavished on them at public events, but it's not always easy for canines and owners to be on the same page.
